As a Web Designer, you will work closely with the Communications team, managing all aspects of creating, editing, and maintaining the official website of Young European Leadership. The job involves understanding both graphic design and computer programming. As a candidate, you should possess very strong IT skills (including HTML, CSS, Version Control Systems, Python programming language), English skills, the ability to familiarise yourself quickly with new technical settings, and very high attention to detail. Subject to your interest and time you may also engage in other activities of YEL or contribute to a more comprehensive overhauling of YEL’s online presence. The position requires committing about 5-10 hours in a regular week.
YEL is looking for a new member to join the communications team. You would take the lead on creating the visual material YEL uses in its external and internal communications, e.g. banners, pictures, advertisement, brochures, and any other related material. The position offers great room for creativity. You should be familiar with programs such as Photoshop or InDesign. The position requires to commit about 3-5 hours in a regular week.
Video Production Officer
As a Video Production Officer, you will work closely with all members of the organisation, producing, editing and assembling recorded footage about Young European Leadership events into a finished project that matches the vision of the organisation and is suitable for broadcasting on our communication channels. As a candidate, you should enjoy digital storytelling and possess creativity and familiarity with relevant video-cutting and production programs. The position requires committing about 3-5 hours in a regular week and higher intensity during YEL’s conferences/events.
YEL is looking for two Press Officers to join our team. As a Press Officer, you will work closely with all members of the organisation, coordinating, and managing the public image of Young European Leadership, as well as writing press releases, and monitoring media coverage. As a candidate, you should possess excellent written and spoken English, awareness of the media’s different audiences, good interpersonal skills, persuasive, resilient, able to handle criticism, as well cope with pressure, erratic deadlines and understand the importance of social media. The position requires committing about 3-5 hours in a regular week and higher intensity during YEL’s conferences/events.
Social Media Officer
YEL is looking for a new member to join the communications team. Together with other YEL Staff you provide content to our online media (e.g. articles relevant for our audience), work with project teams on recruitment for our initiatives, and increase YEL’s online reach. You should have some experience with web2.0, possess strong English skills (spoken and written), and have an interest in European / international affairs, particularly pertaining issues concerning youth. The position requires to commit about 3-5 hours in a regular week.
As Fundraising & Partnerships Officer you support YEL to make our events and the organization as a whole as inclusive and sustainable as possible. In co-operation with YEL’s Board, you would identify and build relationships with potential sponsors in the private and public sector to win support for key events costs (in particular transport, accommodation, venue hire and catering). Your creativity will be key in conceiving and communicating innovative ways in which we can build genuine long-lasting relationships with our sponsors. The position requires strong English and a high level of perseverance. The position requires to commit about 3-5 hours in a regular week.
As HR Assistant, you will work closely with all members of the organization at Young European Leadership, handling recruitment of new team members and supporting the skills development of current YEL Staff with the guidance and support of the HR Officer. You will also assist with the implementation of the alumni engagement strategy. As a candidate, you should enjoy communicating with people and possess basic knowledge or experience with HR, and strong English skills. The position requires committing about 3-5 hours in a regular week.
As Treasury Officer, you will work closely with the Board of YEL to ensure and maintain the financial soundness of the organisation. You will work closely with project teams to ensure that project budgets are viable, and provide timely updates on project income and expenses. You will be responsible for preparing annual accounts for internal planning, as well as for the relevant Belgian authorities as required under AISBL law.The position requires very strong English, and French skills, strong financial literacy and proficiency in the area of accounting, proactivity, strategic thinking, and very high attention to detail. Applicants shall be based in or very close to Brussels. The position requires committing about 3-5 hours in a regular week.
As Delegations Director, you will be responsible for YEL’s program of delegations to international conferences such as the Y20 summit, OECD Forum, and UNFCCC COP meetings. You will work with the VP Programming to develop a delegations strategy for YEL, and organize access to relevant conferences accordingly. You will also be responsible for initiating and developing partnerships with conference organizers and other organizations to enhance the visibility and impact of YEL delegations, and reduce participation costs for delegates. You will have the opportunity to attend select conferences. The position requires strong organizational skills and experience in relationship management. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to lead very diverse teams, and strong English skills. The position requires a commitment of 5-10 hours in a regular week.
Deputy Director Delegations
As Deputy Director of Delegations, your role is to support delegation officers with timely planning and execution of project tasks, and ensuring smooth collaboration with YEL’s Communications and Partnerships teams. You will support delegation officers with recruitment and training of delegates, as well as communications activities and liaising with partner organizations. You will also be responsible for refining delegations processes and best practices in line with feedback gathered from the team after each delegation project. You will have the opportunity to attend select conferences. Candidates should have fluent English, and strong organizational skills. The position requires a commitment about 3-5 hours in a regular week.
Director YEL Events
As YEL Events Director, your role is to oversee YEL’s portfolio of conferences, including our annual flagship Young European Council (YEC) event. Your role will be to support event project leads, coaching and facilitating collaboration with other team members, and involving the Board to address issues or queries as relevant. You will work with the VP Programming to develop and execute events in Brussels and other European cities to raise YEL’s profile and extend its reach. Candidates should have strong organizational and relationship management skills, fluent English and demonstrate an ability to lead diverse teams. The position requires a commitment of 5-10 hours in a regular week.
As YEL’s Legal Advisor you can bring your expertise for Belgian international nonprofit law into practice. You would work on YEL’s legal documents, such as the Statutes and Bylaws, as well as partnership agreements, contracts, or disclaimers. You would collaborate directly with the Executive Board and other senior Staff of the association and advice the team in all legal matters. Expertise concerning the Belgian laws regulating international nonprofit organizations (AISBL/IVZW/IVoG) is essential for this role. The position requires to commit about 1-3 hours in a regular week.
